Rio de Janeiro market closes the year with positive liquid absorption | 4Q 2020

The Rio de Janeiro office market ended 2020 with a vacancy rate of 39.6%, 1.3 pp less than in 2019, according to the First Look survey, conducted by JLL. Gross absorption totaled 5.9 thousand m² in the 4th quarter, ending the year at 93.6 thousand m².

Place where most of the leasable area of ​​Rio de Janeiro is concentrated, the Center showed positive rates in the 4th quarter, being responsible for 53% of the total absorption. The region's movement maintained the pattern of the year (81%) and was followed by Barra da Tijuca (9%). Even with approximately 19 thousand m² of devolution in the quarter, the gross absorption in the Center in 2020 reached almost 80 thousand m².

Among the new businesses, 24% were carried out by the Utilities and Public Services sectors, 16% by the Financial segment and 6% by Digital Services companies.
